What
are the synthetics in our shampoos and conditioners?
Our shampoos and conditioners are 80-90% organic,
exceeding the standard required by law for the organic label.
Cetearyl alcohol is not really "alcohol"
but a type of vegetable wax from the coconut, which is used to soften
the other natural waxes and oils in the product, making them easier
to rinse out.
Cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB) is derived from
coconut oil and dimethylaminopropylamine, a gentle wetting agent
used in baby shampoo.
Disodium laureth Sulfosuccinate is mild degreaser
that removes oil build-up.
Phenoxyethanol is a mild anti-bacterial
preservative that makes it possible for you to keep natural oil-based
products in a warm bathroom without spoiling.
Stearalkonium chloride is used in very small
amounts to reduce static.
Sodium Laureth Sulfate is the foaming agent
that makes the bubbles in shampoo and toothpaste.
Triethanolamine is a pH balancer that reduces
the alkaline properties of soaps.
Tetrasodium EDTA is used in trace amounts
to break down minerals, which removes product build up and mineral
pollutants from the hair. |
